KAILUA-KONA — No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-5.4 earthquake shortly before noon Monday in the summit region of Kilauea volcano.
The earthquake was recorded at 11:43 a.m., according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. No tsunami was triggered by the event.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said the temblor coincided with a collapse/explosive event at the summit.
